Faith Journey

Did you ever think about the word faith?

A simple dictionary definition of faith is "belief or trust." Whom are you trusting with your life and your eternity?

I have chosen to place my faith, my trust, in God.

Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." The Bible says that God sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to die on the cross for our sins. But Jesus, God in the flesh, didn't stay dead. He rose up from the grave three days later, just as He promised!

Why is that so important?

Because that is how God has made a way for us to go to Heaven, by placing our faith, our trust in Jesus' finished work on the cross. And part of God's promise for those who trust Jesus as Savior includes traveling with us on life's journey.

Leviticus 25:23 says, "We are strangers and sojourners WITH GOD." What an adventure!

One of my favorite devotional writers, Joni E. Tada says this: "Faith enables us to realize our true positions as sojourners on this planet... through faith we understand that we are not physical beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a physical experience."

Imagine? We are spiritual beings having a physical experience! Good food for thought to consider on this journey of faith!

Live the adventure,
Susan

Boy, that changes your whole perspective and enables you to better walk by faith and not sight, doesn't it? Excellent!

Very good food for thought. Faith is difficult sometimes but I believe I have a lot of it. As I grow older, I am gaining more faith too. Great post as usual.

I love that line of Joni's. I also love the way you worded this on your post"our trust in Jesus' finished work on the cross" His finished work! What a great finisher He is indeed! Thank you for sharing the adventure once again!

2 Cor. 5:1-7 " 1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Wow. I am a spiritual being. (I just had an Ah Ha moment.) I've decided that whether things are looking good or looking bad, that I will continue to trust in Jesus.

Susan, yes, considering, isn't it? It was actually something her friend impressed on her and it stuck.

Helen, yes it does help to realize how much we are sojourners.

Angie, sure does, doesn't it?

Greg, yes, growing in that faith is so important. It helps when our object of faith is Almighty God.

Kim, yes, me too and the finished work of the cross is a term my dad uses often so it's a natural term for me to use. Thanks for making the connection about Jesus job as the author and finisher of our faith! Great insight.

Jen, glad to be an encouragement my friend. Praying for your transition in your new home.

Sue, yes, so true.

Yes Angela, I remember when I first came across the verse in Leviticus, it really struck me about us being sojourners together WITH GOD.

Hey Sharon, thanks for the encouragement my friend. Love you.

Robin, welcome. Thanks for leaving those wonderful verses. One of my most favorite parts is that when we're absent from this body we are immediately present with the LORD!

Hey Amrita, yes an awesome thought indeed.

Yes Colleen, sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in the here and now, I know it is for me. This certainly helps remind me there's more to life than the physical realm. God breathed into Adam the breath of lives, we are spiritual beings with an earthly "tent" like Shari shared in that Bible passage in 2 Corinthians.
